Digital Safety, Sovereignty, and Joy

In an age of relentless digital change, surveillance, and uncertainty, one question keeps many women of color entrepreneurs up at night:

“How do I protect my small, community-based business online in these chaotic political times?”

At Tercero Solutions, we hear this concern loud and clear! It’s what inspired our founder, Kim Tercero, to host Secure & Sovereign: Tech Safety for Women of Color Entrepreneurs, a workshop grounded in community care, digital wisdom, and tech savvy magic ✨

Co-hosted with our brilliant friends at Kindred Connection, this gathering was a vibrant reminder of what becomes possible when women of color come together with intention and a few good snacks, anything is possible, including reclaiming our power in the digital world.

So, What Is Kindred Connection?

Kindred Connection is a third space for Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color (BIWOC) entrepreneurs. Rooted in joy and abundance, this intimate community helps small business owners reclaim entrepreneurship as a pathway to healing, restoration, and shared prosperity.

Kim was introduced to Kindred in 2024 by a close friend and fellow entrepreneur who knew it would resonate with Tercero’s values and she was right. Since then, Kindred has become a natural space for collaboration, experimentation, and courageous conversation. The vibes are always on point!

About the Workshop and Why We Brought it to Life

Kim wears many hats as a tech equity strategist, facilitator, and all around digital wellness nerd; she wanted to offer something very different from your typical digital safety session.

No dry slides or intimidating jargon. Instead, she created an engaging experience that blended hard tech skills with soft wisdom, creating space for participants to explore digital safety through both a strategic and deeply human lens.

Our Goals Were Simple

  • Equip participants with practical tools for navigating digital safety.

  • Explore the intersection of tech, power, equity, and sustainability.

  • Celebrate the lived experiences and brilliance of BIWOC business owners.

  • Foster a sense of confidence and agency to take control over our digital lives.

Workshop Highlights

✨ We kicked things off with a pairing exercise to get folks grounded and connected. Think less awkward icebreaker, more gentle invitation to land in the space.

🧠 In an interactive white boarding session, we explored playful prompts like “What’s your tech superpower?” and “My Tech Red Flags?” These conversations surfaced insights about fear, trust, innovation, and community resilience.

🔐 We got geeky and dove into VPNs, password managers, ethical tech use, and even environmental sustainability in digital tools. No shame, just growth!

🌌 And in a moment of pure magic, one participant, a cardiologist, shared the connection between planetary movements and technology. A reminder that digital safety lives at the intersection of many systems, patterns, and ways of knowing.

“One participant told me she got exactly what she came for and more,” Kim shared. “It was such a full circle moment. That’s why we do this work.”

How This Connects to Our Work at Tercero Solutions
